Lose Weight – 2 Easy Ways to Conquer Weight Loss Plateau
When you start a weight loss program you will probably find that you are successfully losing weight during the first few weeks. When people start a diet program they rapidly lose a few pounds, most of this is water. During the first week you may find that you have lost about 7lbs then the loss slows down to about 2lb a week. This is quite normal and is a healthier way to shed pounds. Your extra weight did not go on suddenly so it will not come off suddenly either, sad but true. If it comes off too fast, you will more than likely put it all back on again at some stage.
After many weeks you step on the scale and to your horror you discover that the scale is not going down any more! You check again, then check the scale to see if it’s working and you get totally discouraged after all the hard work you have put in – but don’t be. This happens to the best of us!
What has happened is that you have hit a situation commonly known as weight loss plateau! In such situations, the only remedy is a complete overhaul of your lifestyle habits.
You have probably eaten the same type of foods and done the same sets of exercises over and over again. As a result your body has got accustomed to your diet and exercise routine and your weight loss methods have failed to bring any sustainable results!
So, what can you do about it?
What you need to do is change your diet and exercise regimen. Here are two methods you need to follow to get out of the weight loss plateau:
1. Eat more: Strange as it may seem to believe but you need to increase your food intake. When you count calories and limit the intake of calories to an abnormally low level there is no incentive for your body to increase your metabolic rate since it has to burn only a few calories. You are not able to burn fat when your metabolic rate is low.
In order to burn fat and lose weight successfully, you need to eat enough so that your body is forced to keep your metabolic rate at a high level. Your body needs fuel to burn fat, and it can only get that fuel from foods!
2. More exercise: If you have only been doing light exercises or avoiding exercise altogether then you cannot lose weight successfully. Exercise is another powerful way of increasing your metabolic rate. Don’t be afraid to exercise, you don’t need to go jogging every day or go to the gym on a regular basis. There are plenty of easy and simple exercises that you can do in the comfort of your own home – even if you have limited mobility and can’t get round much.
When you follow these simple two methods you will soon see the pounds falling off again as you lose weight and you soon be able to acquire that slim body you’ve always wished for!
